Week 3: G6 #biz + #life
The next kid was heading off…Devin was getting ready to head home for his spring semester. He and Maleah just moved into an apartment just before Thanksgiving with their college buddy. Devin and his college buddy were living in a house with 5 other boys. Gross. They decided to move out into an apartment near campus.
Maleah, Devin’s girlfriend, had a shift before they left, so he and I did a grocery and a run to grab some things for his apartment. First, we tried a new coffee shop in the Blue Ridge neighborhood. The coffee was delicious. It is a little neighborhood coffee shop. They feature a local bakery, The Cottage Bakery. I tried their cheddar and chive scone. Blue Ridge Coffee House has the charm of a neighborhood. The owner’s kids came in, too, to say hi. It was warm, the service was friendly, and they had snax. When I say, snax, I mean - chips, candy bars, and a freezer filled with local and individual ice cream bars. I loved that there was something fun and different to supply the neighborhood with a convenient store and coffee for the parents. The construction and design are beautifully done. Devin and I had a great time together. These are the moments I really enjoy with my adult kids. Hanging out and hearing about their lives - talking through all the things.
