Week 22: G6 #biz + #life
What's next? Graduation Week. Isabelle is walking to receive her Master's Degree in Government and Politics. It is a special trip. David and Eddie are in tow to see this baby walk across to mark her ½ point in her PhD program at the University of Maryland.
This trip was extraordinarily rainy…it made it difficult to really sightsee as we would normally - walking was kinda miserable in the rain. We made the best of it and tried to show Grandpa Eddie all the fun things we do in DC, which is heavy on exploring all the food. It was a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it! Isabelle and Ben shared all of their favorite places in Bethesda, where Ben works, Isabelle's campus, and their life.
To see your grown-up children live in an unfamiliar place, make it home, and share it with you - that is special. We are so proud of the two of them. They've built something special. I can say this now…but Ben also asked for Isabelle's hand in marriage this trip. It solidifies a new chapter for all of us; he already feels like family. Obi-Wan approves! We are giddy about the next phase of their life together AFTER Isabelle graduates in 2028.
We both decided to wear straight hair in the rain on graduation day. Regrets. We were sopping wet. It didn't stop us from celebrating at Nobu and enjoying the achievement of our oldest daughter, Isabelle. Have I said we are proud? We friggin' proud of this incredible woman.
