Week 36: G6 #biz + #life
I started the week at one of my favorite Caffe Ladro shops in Lower QA. I have been working at Caffe Ladro managing their operations since 2013. I started managing their retail stores and bakery then in 2022 supported their roasting/warehouse operations.
Caffe Ladro started in 1994 in QA - our Upper and Lower QA locations have a charm to them that will slide you back into 1994. I managed the cafes during the most challenging time during the pandemic supporting their operations as an essential business. Caffe Ladro had 14 cafes when I started in 2013 up to 18 cafes in 2021. We are opening our 19th store this winter in Ballard.
I support 130ish employees spanning their retail, bakery and roaster operations. Things have changed since our fire in 2024 that affected our warehouse and roasting facility. Even though that presented a big hurdle, we have good friends in our community willing to let us roast at their facilities to keep our cafes and wholesale customers flowing with coffee.
I feel fortunate to have the learnings and opportunities with Caffe Ladro.
I also started the craze series, The Summer I Turned Pretty. It seemed like everyone was talking about this so here I am a 40 something year old, watching a teenager fall in love and make poor decisions. I decided the finale will be a watch show. If you are curious if I finished Season 1-3 (or up to the finale) by the end of the weekend - I did. Spreadsheet work will do that…it’s good background noise what can I say? I also have a couch buddy in my office. He picks various spots in my office to hang but I think he’s the cutest when he applauds me from the couch.
